Otto Simon worked with Cadent and the HyDeploy consortium (Cadent, Progressive Energy, Northern Gas Networks, Keele University, Health & Safety Laboratory, and ITM Power) to deliver a gas mixing project at Keele University.

Otto Simon provided design and management services, and was responsible for the development of the ‘HyDeploy Compound’ which produces hydrogen via electrolysis and blends it with natural gas in a grid entry unit.

Otto Simon was responsible for integrating the specialist pieces of equipment, acting as Principal Designer and Principal Contractor. We also provided specialist process safety services to produce the basis of safety and ALARP demonstration for the facility; we provided a HAZOP Chair to lead the Hazard Studies (HAZOPS) and LOPAs for the facility, defined the hazardous area classification and produced consequence analysis to support the HSE exemption application.

Otto Simon provided the Functional Safety expertise to enable successful completion of independent third-party functional safety assessment.

Following commissioning and handover, Otto Simon continues to provide operational support to the project, and is working with several members of the consortium on other hydrogen projects.
