Menopause and Employment: Supporting the Challenges and Embracing Opportunities

Today is ‘World Menopause Day’, and serves as a platform to raise awareness about the unique challenges women face during perimenopause, menopause, and postmenopause, including those related to employment.
Menopause is a natural transition in a woman’s life, where many changes take place from physical to emotional and psychological. Common symptoms include; hot flushes, hormonal fluctuations affecting mood, sleep disturbance and joint pain.
As Menopausal women are the fastest-growing demographic in the workforce, it’s important now more than ever to be able to speak openly about menopause at work and the challenges that women face.
Otto Simon actively supports our female workforce, and here are some of the ways we help:
- Flexible working such as changing working patterns or working from home
- Counselling through the workplace, or further help through our employee benefit policies
- Option to take more regular breaks
- More time to prepare before meetings, appointments or engagements
By understanding the challenges and implementing effective strategies, both employees and employers can create a more supportive and inclusive workplace for menopausal women.
