Description


In the role of Principal Mechanical Engineer, you will provide technical authority in mechanical engineering to projects using knowledge from your extensive real-world experience, whether that be from design consultancy, manufacturing or as part of operational site engineering team. You will join multidiscipline project teams and lead other mechanical engineers and designers as well as coordinating the work of specialists in piping, structural and civil engineering taking responsibility for the successful outcome of the project.


Key Responsibilities


Client:  Maintain and develop knowledge in the technologies of Otto Simon business sectors. proactive in design reviews, attend client’s works, and build relationships.


Design:  Delivering mechanical engineering work packages to the contracted specification.


Technical: Suggest, justify, and implement improvements and creative solutions for problems.  Consult with other engineers and experts concerning unusual problems. 


Compliance: Ensure compliance with UK Regulation and provide a working knowledge of industry standards and best practice.


Quality: Check mechanical engineering deliverables prepared by other engineers, audit manufacture and carry out inspections.


Project:  lead or support the Otto Simon Project Manager in managing change, procurement, writing scopes of work, planning resources and implementing project controls.


Business: Assist in the development of proposals and understanding of contractual requirements.


Integrity: act professionally, fairly, and with integrity in all business dealings and relationships.


Continuous Improvement: Ensure lessons learned are effectively captured and embedded in future business practices.


Requirements


  • Engineering Degree.
  • Working towards or have Chartered Membership of a recognised institution.
  • Customer focused.
  • ·Aptitude for understanding new processes/technologies and applying engineering knowledge to them.
  • Analytical ability, attention to detail, ability to identify/assess/solve problems
  • Experience in Chemical Manufacturing, Hydrogen, Carbon Capture or Biotechnology sectors.
  • Experience in leading teams of engineers and designers.
  • Excellent technical written and verbal communication, good IT skills.
